SofaSub is a small independent service based in England. This page explains what we collect and why. Questions or requests: help@sofasub.com.
Creators (people with a SofaSub account)
- Account details: your email address, an optional name, and your password stored as a one-way hash. We can't see your password.
- Your codes: the YouTube channel, video, name and picture link you enter.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
- Login cookie: one essential cookie keeps you logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Viewers (people who scan a code)
When someone scans a code or taps a button, we record only which code, which button, and when. We don't record names, IP addresses, device details or YouTube accounts, and we set no cookies on the scan page. Creators see totals only.
Buttons on the scan page take you to YouTube, where YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
Why we use it
To run your account and codes (contract), to take payment (contract), and to keep the service secure (legitimate interests). We don't sell data or use it for advertising.
Where it's kept
On servers run by Render in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). Payments are processed by Stripe. Both act on our behalf under their own data protection terms.
How long
Account data is kept while your account is open. Ask us to delete your account and we'll remove your details, codes and their stats within 30 days. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how it's used. Email help@sofasub.com. If you're unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
